Ariane Loeb

Although she now lives in New York, growing up in Paris, Ariane was actively involved with Jewish Organizations as a counselor and a teacher.

After completing her first Master’s degree in French Literature and Cinema Studies, Ariane moved to California to teach at the Claremont College in Los Angeles. Then living between Paris and Israel while producing commercials and documentary films, Ariane started working on her PhD in Jewish History in Paris before finally moving back to New York City where for the last twenty years she has been working as an historian/archivist for institutions such as YIVO, and the Memorial de la Shoah.

When studying for her MFA in Cinema studies at NYU, Ariane discovered the Lower East Side and fell in love with what was at the time, a still very vivid Jewish Life.

Currently she is collaborating with the Brooklyn Public Library as Project manager of the Brooklyn Collection Jewish History Project.

As a licensed New York City tour guide, Ariane has been sharing her passion for the City doing her own Historical Tours with Ariane's New York in French, English and Hebrew.

Eager to help preserve the history of a fast and ever-changing neighborhood and share her love for Jewish History, Ariane is loving being a Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy tour guide!!!!!
