On this new Zoom talk, Karen Reb Rudel, (who recently gave us a fabulous virtual tour of Jewish Paris, as well as a fun presentation about French Food Frenzy) and her colleague, Stephanie Paul will show us a few Parisian monuments, but focus more on obscure places that you would have never guessed were connected to the movement.
Hear rarely told stories about brave people involved in the French Resistance.
Some of the sights and topics discussed will be:
• History of the French Resistance movement in Paris during WWII
• Ile de la Cité
• View of the Notre Dame
• Unknown places in Paris where the Resistance action happened
• The Sorbonne
• View of the Pantheon
• Jardin de Luxembourg
• Resistance Museum
Originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Karen was back and forth between Paris and Philadelphia from the age of 30 until she got married, and Paris has now been her stomping ground for over 20 years. Karen is the founder and CEO of Sight Seeker's Delight, a well respected touring company in Paris, and is in a unique position to give us the historical background and underground cultural scoops that most walking tours leave out.
Steph, Karen's colleague is originally from Britain and is now a Licience Professionelle with a national tour guiding degree which includes her thesis: Living and surviving- A Jewish History of Paris. Fate led her to Karen, whose Jewish tour gave her the chance to put her knowledge of Jewish history to the test.
Join us as these 2 dynamic women tell the story of a dark time in history.
This program will last approximately 90 minutes with time for Q & A at the end.
If you want to hear this extraordinary program, you must do so live. There will NOT be a chance to obtain a link to the recording.
